Stevenson Endorsed by Schmidt

Vote Stevenson For Commissioner

My name is Randall Schmidt; and I am a former candidate for Medina County Commissioner. I entered the race because I wanted to make a meaningful difference in Medina County. Yesterday, after much consideration,  I removed my name from the ballot in order to fully support Jason T. Stevenson. To ensure that our values and goals were in alignment, I  met with Jason a number of times and had a couple of phone conversations with him.  It is clear to me that Jason represents the future of Medina County and has the wherewithal and background to take our county forward in the right direction. Having been a Marine who served in Vietnam and having served on the bench hearing court cases for many years, I’ve become a keen judge of character. In my judgment, Jason T. Stevenson has the right character to lead our county to more jobs, better government cost structure, and a better school funding model. Please vote in the Republican primary March 6th, 2012 for Jason T. Stevenson, whom I support for Medina County Commissioner.

-          Randy Schmidt, Medina City Resident/Former Candidate for Medina County Commissioner.

As Commissioner I Will:

Step out of the way of business and job creation by instituting a Common-Sense-Initiative to consolidate unnecessary regulations and departments.

I believe in commonsense. The state of Ohio has very successfully instituted a Common-Sense-Initiative aimed at identifying and removing redundant or penalizing laws or regulations that stymie business and life in general. When I’m Commissioner we’ll do the same thing at the county level. Government overlap costs taxpayers money and makes it hard to live and work here. If it’s hard to do business in Medina County, then it’s hard to get a job in Medina County – and we need exactly the opposite.

Coordinate townships, school systems, and cities to improve buying power and to reduce costs.

I think our government can be a lot more efficient. Our townships, school systems, and cities need to work together to reduce buying costs for everyone. Doing so allows each organization the choice of raising the level of service to its citizens or lowering its taxes.

Advocate for a better school funding model.

We have a school-funding model that needs work. The county government has the ability to unite the districts and make a difference. We’re already seeing  success with the small sales tax that’s done so much for school infrastructure and capital improvements.

Bring fresh ideas and a true vision to the office of the Commissioner.

Medina County is blessed to have wonderful natural resource reserves right under our feet! I believe that development of the oil and natural gas reserves in our county will create new wealth, new business, and new jobs that we desperately need. I intend to work with the companies interested in developing our natural resources to ensure development is responsible and doesn’t change our landscape, but does provide economic, job-creating stimulus it’s capable of producing.
